Organizational Overview

United Way of Lebanon County's mission is to serve as thought leaders, convene community, promote collaboration, and develop resources and solutions to strengthen Lebanon County. We do this by identifying key issues facing our region, engaging individuals to build solutions-focused strategies, and mobilizing resources to invest for change. 

United Way of Lebanon County (UWLC) raises more than $1 million annually through the Annual Community Campaign and invests resources back into the community through Community Impact Grants to nonprofit organizations and Focused Initiatives including Community Schools, 211, and the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA). UWLC also coordinates annual community activities including Day of Caring, Stuff the Bus School Supply Drive, and the Leonard Washington Community Service Award.

Lebanon County VITA Program Contract Services Description

United Way of Lebanon County seeks a contractor to play an operational and developmental role in the administration of VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program) in Lebanon County.  VITA in Lebanon County is operated as a collaborative partnership of the Lebanon Community Action Partnership (CAP), Grace United Church of Christ, Salem Lutheran Church and the Lebanon County United Way.

Summary of Services Needed:

  • Collaborate with the partner organizations to achieve the following goals:
    • Lead the recruitment of volunteers; Increase the number of trained and IRS certified volunteer tax preparers by at least 25% (at least 3 additional preparers) and add at least 1 new volunteer service site coordinator by November 30, 2024.
    • Lead the promotion of the free VITA service to income-qualified individuals and families; increase the number of tax returns files by 25% over the last tax last year.
  • Expand the number of VITA partner organizations, particularly service sites, in Lebanon County as necessary to achieve the above goals.
  • Assure Lebanon County VITA program compliance with Department of Treasury / IRS requirements and operating guidelines for VITA.
  • Coordinate the operating roles of the VITA partner organizations in Lebanon County.
  • Report activity and progress weekly to the United Way Executive Director and al least monthly to the other VITA partner organizations in Lebanon County. 

Six-month Contract Services Period: September 2024 through April 2025 (8 months)

Compensation to Contractor: $3,000 per month

Contract Services Provider Reports To: the Executive Director of Lebanon County United Way
