Give Now to Support Our Neighbors During the COVID-19 Pandemic

We have launched a special fundraising campaign designed to support our most vulnerable friends and neighbors as we brace for the potential impact of the COVID-19. One hundred percent of the funds raised through these efforts will be distributed through our trusted community nonprofit partners who have their boots on the ground working hard to respond to the increased needs of local families during this challenging time. These funds will complement the government relief being deployed to fill any potential gaps to ensure support for local community members.

United Way already has the infrastructure required to be able to collect and distribute throughout the community in response to the needs that are changing daily. “The coronavirus is not just a health threat, but an economic one as well. The precautions we are taking in Lebanon County and across the country to abide by the guidelines of CDC best practices and social distancing have disrupted our lives in serious ways. The closings of local schools, libraries, some childcare centers, and other businesses will undoubtedly have a negative impact on our local economy. The team at United Way in collaboration with the Board of Directors recognized the need to act swiftly and strategically to provide a collective community fund as we prepare for the short-term and long-term impact to our local community,” Brooke Smith, CEO.

In Lebanon County, 40% of people live in poverty or in A.L.I.C.E (Asset Limited Income Constrained Employed). Individuals living in ALICE are those who fall above the 100% poverty line and are working one sometimes two or more jobs but still struggle to make ends meet. These individuals often live paycheck to paycheck and any disruption to employment or one emergency can cause an unprecedented financial hardship. We expect to see an increase in requests for assistance from our local nonprofit partners as families may be faced with lost wages and lack of childcare options to enable them to go to work. Funds raised will support the increased financial strain on the organizations to allow them to step up to meet the increased need. In the wake of school closures across the commonwealth, concerns arise regarding food security for children who may receive their only meals at schools. United Way is working collaboratively with our local school districts and community-based food pantries/food security programs to ensure a collaborative approach to make sure no child goes hungry during this time.  

Please consider a donation to United Way of Lebanon County's Community Support Fund. Your gift will go directly to agencies and programs that are working hard to help individuals and families stabilize during the hardship created by the coronavirus COVID-19.

Student Meals During School Shutdown

Information is current to the best of our knowledge as of March 16. We recommend confirming with the school district and/or agencies as the situation changes throughout our communities:

CLSD Grab ’N Go Meal Service

Monday thru Friday, 11 AM-1 PM (only)

Week of April 6, the CLSD Grab N’ Go Meal Service for all CLSD students, will be available from 11 AM-12:30 PM. There will be NO sites open Friday, April 10. 

• Union Canal Elementary School, 400 Narrows Drive, Lebanon, PA 17046 - Enter via the main parking lot on the South side of the building. Beginning Tuesday, April 7, hours at THIS SITE ONLY will be extended 8 AM -12:30 PM (Click here for a map of the UC location.) 
• Church of the Good Shepherd, 1500 Quentin Road, Lebanon, PA 17042 - Enter via route 72/Tuck Street entrance to access the front of the building. (Click here for a map of the church location.)
• Faith Baptist Church, 220 South 22nd Street, Lebanon, PA 17042

The same two meals will be distributed together at both locations: one breakfast & one lunch per child. Child(ren) must be in the vehicle to receive meals.

Please do not leave your vehicle at any time.

1. Follow the traffic patterns outlined on the map.
2. At Station #1, you will be greeted by a CLSD employee:
   • Please indicate how many meal types you are picking up for the students in your car and receive a windshield tag for your car.
3. Proceed to station #2, where a CLSD employee will fulfill your order and remove the windshield tag;
4. Please follow the traffic pattern to exit and consume the meals at home;
5. Food safety information will be provided with each meal.

We will once again be distributing FREE meals to children ages 18 years old and under on Wednesday, April 15th at the ELCO Intermediate School.  This is the fifth week we will be distributing and being able to see and chat with so many of you (from a safe distance of course) has been the highlight of our week!

Lebanon School District

Tuesday, April 14th 2020, Students can receive lunches and snacks for five days from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. This will be the only distribution of meals for the week of April 13th through April 17th. Stay tuned for information on the distribution of meals for students for future weeks. Meals will be provided to children under 18 who are present. Lunches will include sandwiches, fresh vegetables, fruit and milk. Cereal and other assorted breakfast items, along with a fruit and juice will be provided for snack. No congregating at the location is permitted.

Northern Lebanon School District

Our next food distribution for ALL Northern Lebanon School District students will be on Friday, April 10th.  Please make note our location of distribution has now changed to the Northern Lebanon High School for the remainder of the school closure.  In order for us to appropriately prepare you must pre-register by Thursday, April 9th, by 5:00 PM using this link.  Please register even if you had meals in the past.

Registration deadline:  Online Registration by Thursday, April 9, by 5:00 PM

Pick-up location:            NEW LOCATION - Northern Lebanon High School; 345 School Drive, Fredericksburg, PA

Pick-up time:                  Friday, April 10, 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM

How much is it:              Free

How will it work:           Families should enter the school parking lot from School Drive and pull up to the loading dock.  Someone will greet you at your passenger side window.  You will supply your student(s) information.  The food will be delivered to you in your car.  No one should get out of the car.  Once the food is received, proceed straight around the building and exit the school on to Airport Road.

What will be served:      Four breakfasts and four lunch meals as defined by school food regulations.  Milk will be included.
