Improving our neighbors’ lives through effective development and stewardship of community resources is our mission. To achieve the most meaningful and measurable impact in the Lebanon Valley, we are advancing an improved model for addressing and meeting community needs.
In 2016, United Way of Lebanon County accelerated our efforts to solve community needs by investing a record $2.5 million across 31 promising programs and partnered with Penn State University to complete a community-wide needs assessment. Looking ahead, United Way will continue to advance its Community Impact model.
The Community Impact Model is grounded in aligning community resources (knowledge & capital) to create solutions to community needs; advance partnerships that produce measurable results; and to report on the improvements in the lives of those served in our community.
What do we hope to achieve through Community Impact?
- Make our community stronger and better able to respond to identified needs.
- Set clear and mutually agreed upon goals that address community needs.
- Increase collaboration across our community to develop comprehensive solutions to complex social problems.
- Increase accountability and demonstrate results to our community and partners
We are proud to partner with 20 agencies, our local Program Partners, whose programs in the 4 Building Block areas of Education, Health, Financial Stability, and Safety Net Services are making a real difference in our community.
Explore our focus areas and learn how our community is empowering children, adults and families to succeed at every stage of their lives:
EDUCATION | Total 2-year investment: $794,000
Education is a cornerstone for success in school, work and life. It also benefits the whole community: high school graduates have higher earning potential, contribute more to their local economies, are more engaged in their communities, and are more likely to raise kids who also graduate on time.
HEALTH | Total 2-year investment: $897,980
Our partners build futures by improving the health of Lebanon County residents. This is accomplished through increasing access to testing and preventive care; reducing child abuse, sexual abuse, and domestic violence; and supporting individuals with disabilities.
FINANCIAL STABILITY | Total 2-year investment: $186,000
When people are able to find decent jobs, provide for their families, and save for the future they and their children are more likely to enjoy healthy lives and succeed in school. Everyone benefits because financially stable individuals and families lead to a more competitive workforce and a stronger community.
SAFETY NET SERVICES | Total 2-year investment: $522,000
From crisis to stability, every person deserves to have access to the basic human needs in life, no matter their circumstance or demographic. When people have a safe place to live, have access to healthy food, legal access and crises services, they will feel supported by their community and motivated to better their own quality of life.
