The
United Way of Lebanon County has gained a new VISTA
member!
Megan Hoffa will be joining the UWLC team as the
AmeriCorps*VISTA member for the 2009-2010 year.
Megan is a 2009 summa cum laude graduate of
Elizabethtown College, located in Elizabethtown,
Pa.
She earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in
communications with a concentration in corporate
communications.
Born and raised in Lebanon County, Megan will be
instrumental in helping UWLC’s staff with the
2009 campaign, as well as assisting with community
outreach, resource development and building capacity
f
or the United Way of Lebanon County.
“I’m really pleased with the outstanding caliber of
the VISTA members we attract to serve with us,” said
UWLC’s Executive Director, Mark Hoffman. “A major
advantage [of the program] is that we are provided
with the opportunity to expand our staff’s capacity
and have a greater impact in our community.”
The AmeriCorps*VISTA program, also known as
Volunteers In Service To America, is a national
program that’s goal is to eradicate poverty in the
United States. With thousands of VISTA members
nationwide, this program, which was founded in 1965,
continues to help the lives of many by having its
members volunteer for non-profit organizations and
government agencies.
This marks the third year that UWLC has been
fortunate enough to have a VISTA member. However,
with the addition of Megan, UWLC would like to
extend best wishes to Romeeka Gayhart, the 2008-2009
AmeriCorps*VISTA member, as she explores other
career opportunities.
